Agricultural Practice

AIS Garden was established in August 15, 2017, as an integral component of the school. Students ploughed the garden and made beds on their own with the guidance of teachers. They plant seeds of Ragi, Potato, Radish, Coriander, Cucumber, Tapioca, Black Gram, and saplings of different colour rose plants and hibiscus. Students watering the garden on shift basis for every class. They are learning the method of planting different plants including climbers, herbs and shrubs.

From then onwards, our students started experiencing agricultural practices. Year by year we are seeing the interests among students.

Student felt excited on seeing the stage-by-stage development of the plants. They showed their happiness when they first saw the flowers and vegetables from the plants they planted. When their gardens are ready to harvest, the students carefully pick, clean, and package their produce. No words to express when they harvested the vegetables. We shared the vegetables among the students itself.

With pride and happiness, students showed their parents that they had grown on own. Students those who hate to eat bitter gourd ate our school garden bitter gourd as it was their own harvest. They shared not only the vegetables but also the taste of the vegetables where the social emotional skills witnessed. Hands-on, curriculum-based, comprehensive education programs like this one are important for changing the eating behaviors of our society both now and in the future.

Paddy cultivation: Students prepared the land for paddy cultivation and planted paddy saplings. Through this, they learned the step by step paddy cultivation method. Students enjoyed playing with slough and mud and feel the pain of farmers.
